Weekly rehearsal log for Rock Of Ages #4
DISCLAIMER
Unfortunately this week I was unwell near the end of the week, so was not present for the rehearsals. However this meant that I had done some of my own personal practice of songs and dances when I have found time over the weekend so I didn't get to behind.
MON 2ND
When it came to todays lesson/rehearsal we went over the number heaven and also went over some scenes that we had already done so that we could keep them fresh in our minds and make sure that they were as polished as they could be. By doing this it allows us to remember and keep the quality of past scenes at their best while we learn and do new scenes. For me, todays rehearsal felt quite chill but definitely tested my brain when it came to remembering little changes that we had done to a couple of scenes. When it comes to todays rehearsal I could also feel that my stage presence was improving along with my characterisation of my character, Waitress.
Overall, todays rehearsal went very well and we got quite a bit and made sure that all previous scenes were clean and remembered.
TUE 3RD
Unfortunately I was unable to make it to todays rehearsal after school, However when it came to what was done in that rehearsal it is as follows:
During the afterschool rehearsal, the song dead or alive was started. This included placements and basic movements done by the main characters in the scene. Due to me not being there, this means that I will need to catch up with where I need to be placed along with some of the movements. Luckily they recorded todays rehearsal which was very helpful.
WED 4TH
When it came to todays rehearsal, there were three separate rehearsals. They are as follows:
At the start of the day we had a vocal rehearsal with Lois, This included going over songs that we had already done and making sure that harmonies were up to quality. For me, this rehearsal was very helpful as I found that I had naturally lost some of my harmonies over time. So this was helpful to clean up areas of confusion in the songs. During this, we also went over some songs that were in act 2 that we had yet touched.
In the second rehearsal of the day we went over the staging for dead or alive. For me, as I was unable to make it to the first rehearsal for this number I had to learn it then whilst the staging and some of the moves got changed in order for them to fit the number. This rehearsal was a little stressful for me as I felt at times that I didn't have enough time to pick up the choreography. So personally, I would have liked to spend a little more time on this number.
The final rehearsal of the day was a new scene that we had not touched. For me, this scene was a lot of improvisation when it came to movements as I needed to look like I was being a waitress on a busy night. So this consisted of me pretending to be behind bar, putting away glasses, serving drinks etc.
Overall, today was quite busy when it came to rehearsals but we managed to cover a lot of material.
THRUSDAY 5TH
Unfortunately I was ill for todays lesson, so although I came into college for a little bit I was unable to attend the open evening and the rehearsals.
FRIDAY 6TH
Unfortunately I was ill for todays lesson which meant I was unable to come to this short singing rehearsal, However I looked back on the videos sent of the rehearsal so I could get a grasp of what was done in that day. Due to not being there that day, I went over some of the songs in my spare time and listened to them so I could keep them fresh in my brain.

SMART TARGET + IMPROVEMNET REVIEW
When it comes to this week, I felt quite confidence in my ability to perform the choreography of the show and this can be seen through my overall confidence in the number that we have done this week. Compared to the very start of the rehearsals, I have seen and felt that my confidence has improved a lot and this can be seen through the videos of the week.
When it comes to my vocal range, this is something that I have felt has improved a lot over these past couple of weeks as I am able to sing songs more smoothly without feel that my voice is straining and struggling to hit certain notes in the songs. This has been aided through the exercises and warmups that I have been doing over these weeks not only in class but outside of class.
