Weekly rehearsal blog for rock of ages #6

MON 16TH

In todays rehearsal, we started the day re-going over Don't stop believing and making sure that we all knew our places in the choreography along with making sure that everyone knew and could execute the choreography smoothly and in time. For me this rehearsal was very helpful in helping me remember and learn all the movements and words of the song. Along with this we also went over some scene in which we cleaned up the staging along with making sure scene from scene flowed neatly into each other.

WED 18TH

In todays lesson we went over the songs from the shows, this meant making sure that harmonies were clean and clear. For me, I wasn't feel the best that day so I did as much as I could when it came to doing the movements for the songs. For me this rehearsal really allowed me to focus on the singing aspects of the numbers while also memorising the movements of the songs. Personally, In this rehearsal I discovered a range of harmonies that were a lot weaker than others, and these I will make sure to improve so that they are at the best quality for the show.

THU 19TH

In todays lesson we did a flash mob for the college, so this meant that we used the majority of the first lesson working on numbers that we were going to present to the college. for us this included Here I go again and Anyway you want it. For Anyway you want it, we didn't have a number choreographed for this so we created it before the flash mod. For me, having done past flash mobs it was a lot less stressful than last time, however I was still nervous when I was doing it. However, it was an overall enjoyable experience. After the flash mod, we then went through a couple of numbers and cleaned them up.

FRI 20TH

In todays lesson, it was quite a long day, In which we ran through the whole show, act 1 and act 2. For me this was a very helpful rehearsal as I was unsure of when each number came and what order the numbers where in. Along with this it was helpful in highlighting the areas of the show that I needed to work on when it came to my singing or the choreography for the numbers. After todays rehearsal, even though it was successful overall, It let me know where and what I needed to work on for when we got back to college.

SMART TARGET + IMPROVEMNET REVIEW

From this week I felt that my singing had really improved especially from where I started at the beginning of September. For me this was through a very good improvement in my vocal range as songs I found hard to sing were now a lot easier to sing, and along with this my accent had come along way as at the beginning of September I found the American accent very hard to do.

Along with this, I feel that my stage presence has not improved as much as I had hope it would have, As I still find myself breaking character when I mess up in areas of harmonies or choreography. So this is something that I plan to improve after the halfterm.
